New Job Trainees

True To Life Ministries and Refresh Boutique are helping end the cycle of poverty in our community through the job training program.

As a social enterprise, Refresh serves as a living classroom for job trainees between the ages of 18 and 25, providing the training and support these trainees need to become self-sufficient and ideally transition into successful adulthood. While in the nine-month program, job trainees gain retail experience, leadership training, counseling and guidance for future success plans, as well opportunities for interest-specific internships with area businesses.

Our three newest job trainees - Becca, Lauren, and Trinity - are committed to growing themselves personally and professionally.

Meet Becca!
Becca was born and raised in Lake Jackson where she graduated from Brazoswood High School. She is one of two kids in her family and her brother is four years older than her.

Becca is currently enrolled at Brazosport College and is working toward a degree in special education. She is looking forward to working with special needs students in the future.

While in the job-training program, Becca is most excited about gaining work experience. She believes that the skills she is learning today will easily transfer into her future jobs and career.

“In the job-training program, I am connecting with community more than I ever imagined I would. I plan to keep building positive relationships in my life because I see the value they have in shaping a person’s future.” - Lauren

Introducing Lauren!
Lauren was born in Lake Jackson but grew up in Mississippi. She returned to Lake Jackson in her Junior year and graduated from Brazoswood High School.

While in the job-training program, Lauren wants to take full advantage of the services TTLM provides - leadership training, counseling, case management, and mentoring - to give herself every chance for a hopeful future.

Lauren is excited about gaining experience in business tactics and customer service because she knows these skills will be vital for her career. After completing the job-training program, Lauren plans to attend cosmetology school and establish herself in her own apartment.

“I want to do well and make a good impression in the job-training program. I hope to leave TTLM with a great reference and be equipped to fins a well-paying job.” - Trinity

Welcome Trinity!
Trinity grew up in Magnolia, TX with her mom, dad, brother, six dogs and a cat. After obtaining her GED, she moved to Brazoria County and was connected with TTLM shortly after.

Trinity is currently enrolled at Brazosport College and is working towards her Associate of Arts degree. Her dream is to be on stage, sharing her music and singing for one million people, because she believes that she can have a positive impact on people’s lives through music.

Trinity wants to take advantage of all the opportunities the job-training program offers her to ensure she sets herself up for success in the future.

Imagine if you had resources like this when you were young and transitioning into adulthood.
